Building knowledge through on-demand education
The California Policy Collaborative hosts professional learning communities of California Legislative staff to explore and examine the fundamentals of TK-12 and early care and learning policy.
Our courses will consist of:
On-Demand E-Learning
An online course, with accurate, relevant information on California policy and processes including timely data, peer reviewed research and case studies.
Flexibly paced e-learning for effective and efficient independent study utilizing best practices and a seamless learning management system.
In-Person Convenings
Opportunities for relationship-building and key skills development while exploring the concepts and issues introduced in the course material through robust conversations and interaction – delving into the relationship between policy and practice/implementation.
Engagement with fellow cohort members, senior staff in the Legislature, content experts and stakeholders to better understand the issues within the context of California state policy.
TK-12 Education Policy
The TK-12 Education Policy course is a professional learning community designed to support legislative staff as they develop TK-12 related policy knowledge, skills and relationships.
Early Care and Learning
The Early Care and Learning policy course is a professional learning community focused on supporting legislative staff’s understanding of the state systems – including child care, preschool, Transitional Kindergarten and after school programs – that foster early childhood development and learning.
Participant Eligibility
Who is Eligible to Participate?
Legislative Staff
Legislative staff working in the Capitol, particularly those who staff members on child care and education policy.
Passionate About TK-12 Education and Early Care and Learning Policy
Staff passionate about shaping Transitional Kindergarten-through-12th-grade education and early care and learning policy for future generations in California.
hybrid learning: Can Participate Three Days a Month for Three Months
Those who can devote time three days a month in a hybrid learning for three months during the legislative recess (between October – December).
Continuing Education Units
Those who are interested in receiving eight continuing education units (CEUs) from the University of California, Davis, for completion of the course.
