The California Policy Collaborative’s (CPC) mission is to build the policy knowledge, expertise of and connections between policy staff through accurate and relevant content coupled with engaging, enriching and fun experiences, all for the ultimate benefit of California’s children and communities.

With an initial 2022-23 cohort of junior legislative staff, this pilot will provide an unparalleled opportunity for participants to develop core knowledge of California’s TK-12 policy framework, while refining the essential skills that allow legislative staff to effectively inform [NH1] state policy.
This course is structured with the busy schedule of legislative staff in mind! You will have access to five online learning modules that you will be able to complete at a flexible pace, structured around the legislative calendar Corresponding in-person meetings will provide you the opportunity to meet with fellow cohort participants, senior staff in the Legislature and experts in the field to build relationships and continue to explore the concepts and issues learned from the modules.
- Legislative staff in their first to fourth year working in the Capitol.
- Passionate about issues that shape California transitional kindergarten through 12 grade education policy.
- Able to dedicate 2 days a month for 5 months: September 2022 – January 2023.
- ½ Day – Independent Study
- ½ Day – Social Events with peers and colleagues
- 1 Day – Engage with Experts
As the first cohort, we welcome and encourage your candid feedback! You will be invited to participate in post convening surveys and one focus group to help strengthen the approach in 2022-23 and beyond.
